Square Enix blasts "lackluster" Forspoken sale

Square Enix is known for making great video games, but sometimes their methods can be harmful.

Forspoken had a rough start, which made it clear that the full launch would be worse. But, fans were hoping Forspoken would do better commercially. It turns out this wasn't the case.

Square Enix's president and representative director, Yosuke Matsuda, praised Forspoken in the company's February financial results briefing, saying that the game received positive feedback on its action features.

Matsuda revealed that Forspoken's reviews were challenging and sales were lackluster. This was a considerable downside risk to our FY2023/3 earnings.

Square Enix is reabsorbing Luminous Productions back into the company in May because they think the company has a lot of potential.

Luminous is working on a new DLC, In Tanta We Trust, which is scheduled to be released this summer.

Square Enix is very excited about the upcoming release of Final Fantasy, which is coming out on June 22. A playable demo of the game is planned to be released weeks beforehand, so that everyone can get a taste of what to expect.
